DATATOMIC / THEORETICAL INQUIRY

Consciousness & mathematical description

What would a mathematical account need to explain, and how could competing accounts be distinguished?

EXPLORATORY NOTE · PROPOSED INQUIRY

An introductory framing of the question and possible next steps. No completed study or experimental result is reported.

Define the target

Before proposing a mathematics of consciousness, specify what the account is meant to describe: reported experience, information access, attention, or another observable relationship. These targets should not be silently treated as equivalent.

Proposed inquiry

Build a comparison table of candidate accounts, their assumptions, and the observations that would favor one over another. Seek cases where the explanations disagree, rather than collecting examples that all can accommodate.

Open boundary

A model of a measurable correlate would not settle the philosophical question of subjective experience. The next proposed artifact is a map of definitions and distinguishing tests, with the unresolved questions kept explicit.
